The Sheffield College provides education and skills development to people in the UK’s fifth largest city. It works with people of all ages, including nearly 7,000 16 – 18 year olds, and up to 15,000 adults. Courses range from pre-entry level through to Level 6 Higher Education programmes (the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree).
A modern college site in the heart of Sheffield offers a range of vocational and career focussed courses including brickwork, painting and decorating, signwork and joinery. The Sheffield College also has other sites offering a range of A level subjects, including science, art, design, creative media and sport.
A brand new centre for technology, engineering and design – called TED – is due to open in September 2015.
The Sheffield College has been working with local charity WEST (Women in Engineering Science and Technology) for the last two years to encourage girls and women to train in areas that are traditionally male-dominated.
